A few weeks ago an advert for a new kind of travel wallet/journal popped up on my Facebook feed. I clicked on the link to learn more about the Passport Amigo Travel Wallet. I was really inspired by what I read and decided I had to buy one.
For the sake of full disclosure, I contacted Melanie, the creator of the wallets, before purchasing to explain who I was and to ask if she would give me a discount. She agreed. What do you get when you buy a Passport Amigo travel wallet?
When my wallet arrived, Mark made a video of me opening it so you can see what’s included.
You get:
- A sturdy tin with a hinged lid
- A paper band with the Passport Amigo label which can be reversed for you to write the details of your trip on when you get home
- A pack of 2 Magic Towels (freshen-up wipes which work when you re-hydrate them in water)

- A passport-sized wallet with your chosen map printed on the outside and pockets to keep things in and somewhere to write notes on the inside

Features of the Passport Amigo Travel Wallet
- The tin is sturdy – perfect for keeping your passport and valuables in while you’re travelling, as well as for storing your notes and mementoes when you get home.
- The wallet is made from Tyvek® by DuPont™, a spun polymer which feels like high-quality paper. This durable lightweight material can’t be ripped or torn and is UV-coated so it won’t fade in the sun. It is resistant to the odd splash of water and, over time, it will soften and age as leather does.
- Your Passport Amigo travel wallet comes with a replacement guarantee so if it tears or comes apart, you can request another one.
- It’s a handy size and won’t take up too much room when you’re travelling.
- You can write on your wallet, so you can plot your journey on the map and write notes inside.
- The wallet contains expandable pockets to keep receipts, tickets, travel documents, etc.

Does this represent good value?
Being the skinflint I am, on first sight, I thought the Passport Amigo travel wallet was expensive. However, having the product in my hand has changed my mind! This is a quality item designed, printed and constructed by hand in the UK. By buying this product, you are supporting a small independent business and, as a small business owner myself (I make and market fabric items in my other life!), I’m all for that.
If, like me, you’re a budget traveller and it seems like a lot of money, put it on your Christmas list! Next time a friend or family member asks you what you’d like for your birthday, tell them you want a Passport Amigo travel wallet! If, on the other hand, you’re not constrained by tight budgets, buy them for all your travelling friends – they will love you forever!!
